Strathmore kids practicing Karate

Strathmore offers traditional Japanese Shotokan karate through the All Canadian Karate Union (ACKU).

The Strathmore based Karate teams are called the Strathmore Silvertips and karate practices are held at two different locations during the week.

Classes are offered for both varying age groups and skill levels, and are broken down as follows:

Tuesdays at Wheatland Elementary School

  • CHOP Kids (ages 4-6) from 5:30pm to 6:00pm
  • Kata Practice 5:30pm to 6:00pm
  • Regular Class 6:00pm to 7:00pm
  • Advanced Class 7:15pm to 8:15pm

Saturdays at Crowther Memorial Junior High School

  • CHOP Kids (ages 4-6) from 9:30am to 10:00am
  • Regular Class 10:00am to 11:00am

Fees are charged on a monthly bases and give students access to unlimited training at any of the ACKU clubs (in Calgary, Airdrie and Strathmore). Fees for an individuals to train is $55 per month. Two or more family members receive a family rate of $95 per month.

Registration is ongoing but classes are on a break for the summer and will resume in the fall.
